The Simpsons is an American animated series in the situation comedy genre created by animator and cartoonist Matt Groening. The Simpsons is the longest animated series in American television history. The Simpsons animated series depicts the lives of the Simpsons family and other residents of the fictional town of Springfield. The Simpsons characters are people with yellow skin, big eyes, and four fingers on their hands (only God has five fingers). Many characters got their names from important people in Graining’s life – for example, the names of Lisa, Maggie, Marge, and Homer are taken from the sisters, mother, and father of Matt Graining. The show features a large number of supporting characters, including co-workers, teachers, family friends, distant relatives, and local celebrities.
